On April 30, 2016 more than 90 members of Mangalore Bicycle club joined hands with GoGreenGoCycling in their mission ‘CycleforCause’.
Our club members and GoGreenGoCycling activists K.G. Sunil and Saibanna Pujari assembled at the Canara High School Urva premises and planted 10 saplings along with Mangaluru Deputy Conservator of Forest K.T. Hanumanthappa, Range Forest Officer Sridhar as an attempt to start the tree planting initiative in Mangalore. Mr. Hanumanthappa offered cyclists a few tips as to how to plant a sapling and nurture it.
Mr. Sunil and Mr. Pujari started their bicycle ride on April 22, World Environment Day, from Bengaluru and are on a mission visiting every district headquarters in the state. They are making every attempt to promote the cause of environment by planting saplings along with local bodies involved during this cause ride.in Besides interacting with students and general public they are also tying up with local cycling clubs to spread the message.
We started at 6 am from city corporation and the ride was flagged off by Mr.Ashoka Vardhana, who is an environmentalist and a cyclist too. Mr. Sunil also addressed the gathering briefing them on their mission and support required. All of us Rode for 10 kms covering prominent locations in the City spreading the message and finally assembled at the Canara School premises.
